<p>There is a lot of buzz these days about internet marketing, and  it is true that it is a great, cost effective way to build a brand, and  gain new business. However, whether you are running a brick and mortar  business, or an online enterprise, there are still some great offline  marketing ideas that you should not ignore.</p>
<p>Every day, you come  into contact with hundreds, if not thousands of people, all of whom are  potential clients for your business. While your online marketing and  other advertising methods are important, it&#8217;s as important to take  advantage of those chance encounters, and there are plenty of ways you  can do that.</p>
<p>Offline marketing has the same goal as your  marketing efforts online &#8211; it is designed to help drive traffic to your  website or business. Print advertising, radio ads, and other forms of  marketing and advertising that are not on the internet all fall into  this category, but often, they are far beyond the budget of the small  business owner.</p>
<p>The secret is to think outside of the box a  little bit, and come up with offline marketing ideas that cost as little  as possible, but that have maximum impact, and will get you the most  exposure possible.</p>
<p>One of the most important things you should do  is to always be armed with your business cards. You never know when you  will meet someone who may be interested in, or useful to, your small  business, and this is the cornerstone of offline marketing for your  business. Keep business cards in your car, in your wallet or in your  purse, and make sure that you always have them ready to hand over to  anyone who seems interested.</p>
<p>Another great offline marketing idea  is a low tech one. Have a t-shirt printed with your company details on  it, and wear it when you go to events. You never know when someone at  your child&#8217;s sports day will be your next big client, or someone you  meet on the golf course is a new supplier with a great product, and by  wearing your t-shirt, you open a channel for dialogue.</p>
<p>Flyers, or  discount coupons are another great offline marketing tool that you can  use to generate interest in your business. Have them printed with your  latest special offers, or with a promotional code that customers can use  to save on their next purchase. At the very least, when someone who  receives one needs a product or service you provide, they will contact  you for a quote.</p>
<p>Then there are so called guerrilla marketing  tactics. These are marketing tactics that are designed to get people&#8217;s  attention, but they need not be difficult or complicated to achieve.  Simply having your website, and nothing else, printed on stickers, and  then placing those stickers wherever you are allowed to, can generate  more traffic for your business, and more sales.</p>
<p>If your budget  for offline advertising is a little bigger, consider sponsoring an  event, or even the scoreboard at your local school. Many organisations  are always on the look out for sponsorships, and by taking part, you are  doing some good, and you will get credited for it.</p>
<p>Networking is  another great method of offline marketing. Nearly every city and town  has at least one business networking group, and there are usually trade  or commerce associations you can join too. These events usually put you  in touch with likeminded business people, and can be a great source of  referrals and business to business leads.</p>
<p>There is an old saying &#8211;  no man is an island &#8211; and the same is true of your business. While the  internet is great as a marketing tool, and it may even be your entire  business, there is still a lot of value to offline marketing too.  Personal connections, and real interactions with people can often be the  catalyst that takes your business to the next level.</p>
<p>When you  spend time on offline marketing efforts, you will connect with real  people. Those people may just become your biggest clients, or they may  be valuable business contacts. They are also likely to share what they  have learned about you and your business with their friends, and word of  mouth is still a powerful form of advertising.</p>
<p>So whether your  business is online or off, it is a good idea to look for offline  marketing ideas that meet your budget and your marketing needs, and put  them into practice. It cannot hurt your business, and it can certainly  do a lot to boost your success.</p>

<p>You are looking to crank up your marketing plan. There are  many options, but few get as good a response as promotional product  campaigns. That being said, things can go quickly askew if they are not  done correctly. With this in mind, let&#8217;s take a look at the three keys  to a successful campaign.</p>
<p>Let&#8217;s start off with the basics. What is  a promotional campaign? It is a marketing effort that uses a free  product or service to entice your pool of prospective customers or  clients to take some action you desire. This action is usually not a  direct purchase. Instead, it is often merely getting them to a store  where a purchase might occur, gathering their information for later  communication or some other option.</p>
<p>The first key to running a  successful campaign is the product itself. You must offer something that  is appropriate for your business and audience. Let&#8217;s assume you own a  brake repair shop. Offering a free coffee mug to anyone that comes in  for a brake inspection isn&#8217;t an appropriate product. It has nothing to  do with your business theme and is of no enticement to your potential  clients. Instead, you might consider offering a free brake inspection  every 10,000 miles with an accompanying calendar they can use to keep  track of their mileage.</p>
<p>The second key is to not just give away a  product or service without getting your theme in front of them. What do  most promotional products have on them? The name of the company. Great,  but this hardly conveys anything. Instead, you want to include your  marketing message. This should be a strong benefit statement like &#8220;A  Free Brake Inspection Every 10,000 Miles!&#8221;.</p>
<p>The third key is to  market to the correct audience. There is a temptation to try to market  to everyone in the belief this will produce more sales. This is wrong.  You must identify your target audience and market only to them. The more  defined the audience is, the better the results.</p>
<p>Many businesses  just plow into a marketing campaign without really thinking because  they don&#8217;t know any other way to do it. Don&#8217;t make this mistake. Focus  on these three keys and your campaign can be a success.</p>

<p>Today there are many eco-friendly options for trade show stands.  Exhibitors across the U.S. and even the world are leaning toward making  their trade show exhibits more &#8216;green&#8217; out of a personal desire to do  so. There are a variety of environmentally-conscious event giveaway  options on the market, as well as other ways that exhibit staff can  reduce their impact on the environment. Now, it&#8217;s easier than ever to  hold trade events without feeling guilty about the materials used to  produce them.</p>
<p><strong>General Eco-Friendly Trade Booth Ideas</strong></p>
<p>Broadly speaking, the best way to limit one&#8217;s impact on the environment  is to reduce the amount of materials used and choose materials that are  renewable and reusable. Staffers at trade show stands should keep these  basic principles in mind. Reduce the amount of paper used. This can be  done by printing on both sides of the sheet and by printing on recycled  paper. Use LED lighting to illuminate the trade show exhibits.  Consolidate your drayage to be shipped in as little shipments as  possible, since shipping weight and costs make up the large majority of  each exhibitor&#8217;s carbon footprint.</p>
<p><strong>Green Giveaway Suggestions</strong> Consider unique giveaway ideas at trade show stands that have little  impact on the environment. What about little plants or seedlings in a  pot with your company&#8217;s name on it? Every time someone sees it in their  garden or on their desk, they will think of your company. You also might  offer t-shirts made out of bamboo, or organic cotton and even reusable  bags with your name or logo on it. Instead of the plastic bags  traditionally given out, these bags will be able to be used time and  time again, and they will serve as constant visual reminders of your  business. Promotional flash drives encourage less paper use and are a  very handy gadget.</p>
<p>Your company also might consider giving out reusable plastic water  bottles (also emblazoned with the company&#8217;s logo, of course). Encourage  attendees to get out of the habit of using regular bottled water and  wasting huge volumes of plastic. Portable reusable water bottles not  only constantly remind the attendee at trade show stands of your  company, but other people in their vicinity at work or play will see  their water bottle with your logo on it as well.</p>

<p>There are other simple ways to reduce your impact on the environment at  trade show exhibits. Pack drayage in as little material as possible  while still ensuring the products arrive safely and unbroken. Reuse the  Styrofoam peanuts or bubble wrap to pack things up after the show, or  offer it to other companies who could use it. Consider stacking empty  product boxes to use as exhibit tables &#8211; why shell out for a different  exhibit table? If your company offers a product that is reusable, try  stacking a pile of disposable ones somewhere in your exhibit to  demonstrate how much waste will be avoided by switching to the renewable  alternative.</p>

<div>Marketing deals with so many different things, you just cannot simplify it into a single kind of advertisement. I have seen many occasions when I felt a company was attempting to do just that.The time comes around for more marketing material so they immediately fall back on the staples of the industry. They might print off some more brochures or put up some more posters, maybe churn out another TV commercial, write up another radio ad, but they do not go into new territory.</p>
<p>Marketing is anything that helps promote your business, and even that statement can deal with a lot of different things.</p>
<p>For instance, there is what could be considered direct marketing and indirect marketing. A postcard promoting a sale or a brochure talking about how great your services are is going to be a form of direct promoting. It tells people to buy from you and everyone who picks it up knows that it serves no purpose other than promoting.</p>
<p>Now, that is not a bad thing, but it is still exactly what these kinds of marketing devices are.</p>
<p>The next is indirect marketing, where the point is not to tell people to buy from you, but get your brand name engrained in their minds. Calendar printing is often a great example of this style of marketing.</p>
<p>Often when it comes to calendars that companies hand out, they do not directly divulge about their company at all. They will have calendars dealing with natural wonders in nature, or tips for improving something in a person&#8217;s life, maybe funny jokes each month. In short, nothing that tells people about how good the company is.</p>
<p>However, there will be a company logo in the bottom corner of every page. You will know when you look at that calendar which company covered the costs of the calendar printing, and that is all it really needs to do. The purpose of direct marketing is often to make your name always close to people, so when they naturally need your services, your name will be there for them to find.</p>
<p>There are so many different kinds of marketing that work well with both of these forms of marketing, and the same kind of advertisement can be interchangeable between the two. For example, a calendar can be more direct in the way it markets. You can have posters, which are very subtle, just as you can have posters that make their point very clear.</p>
<p>Each situation will dictate which kind of marketing you should use for your company. However, to know what the right kind of marketing to use you need to first understand exactly what they are. Figure out whether direct or indirect is the best for your customer base, and go from there. You never want to use the wrong type or you will end up wasting your marketing budget.</p>
